Openreach Industrial Action Update

Further BT and Openreach strikes to go ahead at end of August

Around 40,000 BT workers went on strike at the end of July over pay dispute.
Now, BT workers are pushing ahead with plans for another strike at the end of this month after the Communications Workers Union (CWU) failed in its talks with the telecoms company over pay.

We’ve received a confirmation from Openreach that the Communication Worker’s Union (CWU) will be taking further industrial action.

This will take the form of two 24-hour strikes which will take place on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st August 2022. 

We’ll keep you updated on any further developments including any changes from Openreach. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have isolated the fault to a dual fibre break on the East coast and the London area of our national network. Our technology partner has been engaged and they are deploying engineers to address both breaks. The incident continues to impact our voice and connectivity services and we are taking mitigating action at a network level to try to restore connectivity where we can. We expect to be able to provide a clearer view on time to resolve by 22:00

Our technology partner has been engaged and they are deploying engineers to address both breaks. The incident continues to impact our voice and connectivity services and we are taking mitigating action at a network level to try to restore connectivity where we can.

We expect to be able to provide a clearer view on time to resolve by 20:00 hours as deployed engineers establish the extent of the work at each break.
