WE EMBRACE REMOTE WORKING AND ENCOURAGE OUR CUSTOMERS TO DO THE SAME

There are many different reasons why more and more businesses are now embracing remote working. One that certainly shouldn’t be overlooked is the environmental benefit. When you have lots of people commuting to work and driving in, it’s going to cause emissions and pollution in the local area. If people stay at home and work from there, they’ll emit a lot less CO2 into the atmosphere. Remote working is also good for productivity and can help keep your workforce happy and focused.

WE REUSE AND RECYCLE

We adopt a practice of reusing and recycling anything that is broken or that our business no longer needs.

WEEE RECYCLING

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in
reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.

If this symbol appears on a product you have purchased from us, it means that you can return this waste electrical equipment to Orbex when purchasing a new product from us.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

All our engineers switched to EV which has a significant impact on reducing our carbon footprint.

It’s certainly not a surprise that vehicle emissions are currently one of the main contributors to air pollution.

According to the Mayor of London, road transport accounts for around half of the capital’s air pollution. It’s no wonder that the UK government and local councils want to accelerate the number of electric cars on the roads. The UK government has set a target that the sale of petrol and diesel cars will be banned by 2040. The government is also looking to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2050, and electric cars will play a big role in that.

What’s more, EVs can also help with noise pollution, especially in cities where speeds are generally low. As electric cars are far quieter than conventional vehicles, driving electric creates a more peaceful environment for us all.

Sustainability is part of our business strategy which also helps with workers loyalty.

MINIMIZE PAPER USAGE

Finally, we make an effort to minimize the amount of paper we’re using on a regular basis. With the digital alternatives that are out there, there’s simply no need to still be relying on paper. We have gone fully digital and hardly use any paper.

All our cars are electric which is our effort to improve air quality and impact on environment.
