Environmental Policy

Orbex Solutions is committed to running its business in a responsible, environmentally sound and sustainable manner.

Orbex is dedicated to cut the carbon footprint in a number of ways such us:

  1. Commitment from the top
Board members prioritise sustainability for the whole company. All directors have a duty to act in the best interests of the company, which include the long-term success of the business. The ability to endure increasingly hinges on whether we can adapt to the effects of climate change and dramatically cut our greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. Reducing our emissions from travel and removing fossil fuels from our business

The ability to access information remotely means that our employees can conduct their daily tasks from home, without it having an impact on their productivity or quality of work. We are upgrading to electric cars which will significantly cut our fleet costs. Electricity is significantly cheaper than petrol or diesel per mile. EV maintenance costs are lower too. EVs are also exempt from clean air zone charges and the tax regime incentivises EVs. All-electric vehicles are the only sensible choice.
Our drivers are committed to ecodriving techniques (Ecodriving training and advice – Energy Saving Trust) which can save fuel and reduce emissions too.
We only make absolutely necessary journeys where work cannot be completed remotely

  3. Increasing the efficiency of our office lighting

We use LED lights across the building and switch them off to use natural light whenever possible.

  4. Optimising our heating and cooling systems
We implement temperature controls, ensuring heating and air conditioning is timed correctly and according to outside air temperatures. This minimises over heating or cooling. We ensure that temperature is minimal during no occupancy.
Our staff are trained on local heating and cooling units to avoid dramatic swings in temperature. Our boiler and air-conditioning are regularly serviced to ensure it is operating as efficiently as possible.
  5. Reducing, reusing, recycling

We refurbish and repair IT and phone equipment for our own use and for our customer base. We recycle all our electronic equipment. We reduce consumption of packaging and reuse wherever possible.

  6. Printing as minimally as possible

We are cutting down paper usage by reducing printing and digitising

  7. Educating ourself, our staff, and our customers

Change begins with knowledge. Our business promotes dialogue among our employees through company practices and policies around sustainability. We make our customers aware of our policies to reduce carbon emissions to make them aware of tactics they can use to reduce emissions as well.

  8. Supporting policy initiatives

We back policies that reflect our values and choose suppliers who take a stand to help the plant in the long run, such as:

The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share
